PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
New build on a challenging site
4,200 square feet
Exceeds Step 4 of BC Energy Step Code
Green roof
Exposed concrete
DETAILS:
A lightly wooded forest provides the backdrop for this stunning home, built into the side of a steep lot that required over a month of careful blasting and rock removal. This was the first house in Whistler to apply for Step 4 of the BC Energy Step Code, making it one of the most energy-efficient homes in the area.
We collaborated with the architect on the design of the house. A reverse floor plan makes maximum use of natural light, with each interior space carefully designed to take full advantage of the sun throughout the day. The ground floor’s impressive entry leads to practical utility spaces for all the gear needed for Whistler’s adventurous lifestyle. The main floor is the centre of living and entertaining, while the top floor is defined by peaceful bedroom spaces with breathtaking views.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
High-performance home
New build, with extensive customization
3,500 square feet
Curtain walls
Cantilevered roof
Custom cabinetry throughout
DETAILS:
Combining the simplicity of modern design with intricate details, Cedar Grove is a stunning contemporary mountain home. We initially conceived this as a speculation project and were involved from the beginning in the siting, planning, and design of this luxurious residence. When it was purchased mid-way through construction, we worked closely with the new owners to customize their home and bring their vision to life.
This is a place of balance, where wood and stone are in harmony with exposed structural steel, glass, and concrete in the light-filled interiors. An exceptional level of finishing and craftsmanship is evident throughout – from the custom European oak cabinetry to the exquisite and impressive marble lining the bathrooms and kitchen, exclusive European fixtures, and seamlessly integrated lighting.
Thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces add another level of luxury. A lap pool, oversized hot tub, sheltered lounge area, and fire pit invite family and friends to fully embrace outdoor living.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
New construction, requiring the removal of a small cabin and site preparation
3,565 square feet
22-foot vaulted ceilings
Radiant heating
30% more energy-efficient than homes built to the current building code
DETAILS:
This contemporary open-concept home conveys the sense of living in the forest. Expansive windows bring the outside in, creating a comforting tranquillity in line with the home’s clean and contemporary aesthetic. A sense of spaciousness is everywhere – from the vaulted ceilings in the dining area with views of the ever-changing sky through the upper windows to the views of Mount Sproatt from the kitchen, dining room, and guest room.
This is a home for comfortable modern living. A gourmet kitchen inspires memorable meals with family and friends, while a wood-burning stove and heated built-in bench in the living room encourage relaxation and conversation. Energy-efficient elements – from windows and insulation to a high-efficiency boiler, heat recovery ventilator, and natural gas radiant heat – create a highly functional and very comfortable living environment.
